Assessment

Greenlight Speech Pathology provides comprehensive assessment of speech, language (reading, writing, verbal communication and comprehension), cognition and swallowing functioning of adults.

We use both standardised testing as well as in-home practical observations to assess communication and cognition. This provides a holistic and comprehensive understanding of the needs and challenges facing our clients and their families. Our aim is to identify an individual's difficulties and also their strengths which can be used within therapy to maximise their independence and communication effectiveness.

Adults with swallowing difficulties are offered a thorough clinical assessment in the comfort of their own home. Assessment outcomes include the selection of appropriate foods to eat as well as those to avoid. Our assessment also assists in the development of strategies to ensure a safer and more comfortable mealtime experience for our clients. We liaise with our clients’ medical team and recommend further specialist assessment if required.

The results of our assessment are thoroughly explained to our clients and their families. This discussion also includes feedback about our recommendations for ongoing therapy activities and/or relevant strategies to assist our clients’ everyday life.

We assess adults with a variety of acute and progressive neurological disorders including stroke, acquired brain injury, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neurone Disease and brain tumours.
